As expected from Ballistic, the SG Maxx features top quality materials with excellent fit and finish.

While I really like the look of the case (the review model we were sent is the white and black style pictured on top), the women I showed the case to thought it was a bit too “manly” looking for their tastes. It really has that tough, military look, which goes hand-in-hand with the rugged protection it is designed to offer. No, these are not the new features of the iPhone 5. Researchers from the University of California have tweaked iPhones in such a way that they can be used as high-quality medical imaging and chemical detection devices.

The research team will present their findings at the Optical Society’s Annual Meeting in San Jose, California, October 16-20. The aim of the researchers was to enhance the iPhone on a small budget.
