spherical hexapod — MorpHex

MorpHex, a cute spherical robot able to transform into a hexapod is created by Zenta, whose day job is a consultant engineer at the Assistive Technology Centre for Rogaland. It is designed more like an organism with 6 legs compared to the other robots because of the freedom and movements that comes from being truly alive. It is also able to roll without external forces.

The creator promised a more symmetry version to be made, to allow the robot to roll in all directions. Hmm, that’s about it. Oh, did I mention that it is really really cute when it moves?

Comments:
MorphHex seems to be made to be a toy more than any other robots because it does not have a specific role to fit into our society. but with some upgrades, it can be used as transport to negotiate difficult terrain after modifying size and increasing motor power. Since Zenta managed to make his A-pod (ant-like robot) pour beer, maybe he can combine the A-Pod and the MorpHex to make a perfect bartender.
